A new view of art

Situated in a 250-year-old farmhouse overlooking the lake of Biel/Bienne, the gallery "Artiz" offers a new space for art, encounter and discourse in the Bernese Jura. Much is possible. Exhibitions, of course, but also an open space where art emerges and lives - in whatever form.

We wish to create a place where art, work and vision combine and where encounters and discussions become possible – with old and new friends and art lovers.

This is Artiz - Gallery for Art and Artists

«I only give my art as art.
If you want something by halves, then I'll do without.
There are no half measures in art.»

Estate Gottfried Tritten

Gottfried Tritten (1923-2015), called 'Tiz', left behind so much at his death - besides the gap in our lives.

The majority of his sketchbooks and project sheets, his business correspondence and other art-historically valuable documents were handed over to the State Archives of the Canton of Valais at his request. In Valais he lived in his studio house for half his life. Paintings that he had not sold, given away or exchanged with other artists throughout his life filled the depot of his studio in Grimisuat. This pictorial estate includes completed paintings and prints, as well as incomplete works, sketches of paintings, and his collection of works by other artists, many of whom had been his students.

His daughter Sibylle Tritten now manages half of the work he left behind. The estate is curated by the Artiz Gallery. We show some of his paintings in the following picture gallery. More works can be found on the works website.

If you are interested in paintings by Gottfried Tritten, please contact us. Most of the works can also be purchased from the private estate.
